Overview
This 6 days south Sudan tour takes you to the Dinka cattle camp community that has been made famous by photographers and anthropologists returning with dramatic photographs about the Dinka cattle culture.
From Juba, we take you to the town of Bor in jongolei state as a base to work out from and see cattle camps. The Dinka people have a strong attachment with their cattle, the cattle are regarded as the bases for all wealth and central to their spiritual life.
Dowries are paid in cattle usually over 100 head for a wife. Young boys sleep with the cattle to guard them against thieves and Lions. In times of pressure from other clans and tribes, the cattle are guarded with AK47 guns.
During the game of Dinka Cattle rustling, Songs are composed about their favorite bull. Large barns are built for the cattle in the wet season.
Brief itinerary:
DAY 1. Arrival in Juba and Registration to Authority
Arrive in juba international airport, you will be picked up by our guide form Kofi Travel Safaris and transferred to Hotel on River Nile bank. Have lunch and enjoy a traditional Dinka wrestling match, later have dinner and an overnight.
DAY 2. Fly or Drive from Juba capital to Bor town of Jonglei State
Have breakfast and later drive to Bor, 4 hours to the North to attend safari we will set outside Bor as a base to visit the villages. These villages change location from year to year depending on pasture and water. Have lunch, later visit the villages enjoy the photography around the villages. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 3. Exploring the Dinka Cattle Camps and Villages
Start the day with an amazing breakfast, and have a river trip into the sudd to visit Dinka people living in great swamp. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4. Another day exploring Dinka People
After breakfast, visit the local villages within the range of our camps, picnic lunch, dinner and overnight.
DAY 5. Last Morning with Dinka People and Drive back to Juba Capital City.
After breakfast, drive back to juba, have lunch at the hotel and relax for the rest of the evening as you reminisce on your cultural experience back there. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: Juba City Tour and Departure
Have your breakfast and later transfer to the airport to catch your flight back.
