KOFI TRAVEL SAFARIS
Brief Overview:
The 3 days safari takes you to Mount Elgon found in Eastern Uganda. The mountain stands at 4321m above sea level and is the 8th highest peak in Africa yet the 4th highest in East Africa with the 2nd highest peak in Uganda. It is one of highest mountain continental and the second largest volcanic in the world. Wagagai is the highest peak of Mount Elgon whose summit shelters the world’s largest caldera measuring approximately 50 by 80 kilometers making it slightly tricky to climb and hikers are expected to be fit. A complete circuit of hiking/trekking takes around 4 to 5 days.
This mountain is home to Mt. Elgon national park thus hosting a variety of animals such as Elephants, forest monkeys, Buffalos and other small antelopes among others, various rivers on both sides in Uganda and Kenya, culture and people and the slopes of Mount Elgon are dotted with countless scenic waterfalls. The mountain is also home to the magnificent Sipi falls, gorges, hot springs and caves.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Sipi: exploring Sipi falls
After breakfast, our guide will pick you in the morning and drive to Sipi in Kapchorwa district Eastern Uganda just in the foothills of Mount Elgon. You’ll have a scenic journey passing through Jinja district, Mabira Forest, tea and sugarcane plantations in Lugazi, Lake Victoria, River Nile at the Owen falls dam, Jinja town. Arrive and check in and lunch at your accommodation. After lunch, you take a walk around and explore the three stunning waterfalls, which originate from the hot springs at the summit of Mount Elgon in the border of Uganda and Kenya. You will also explore caves at Sipi. Have dinner and Overnight

Day 2: Hiking Mount Elgon
After early morning breakfast, set out with packed lunch and Meet the park guides who will brief you and are ready to guide through the trails on the mountains, there will also be porters that can help carry your luggage just in case it’s heavy. You will decide whether to take 7km, 3km or 1km. You will start with any trail such as Kapkwai, Kapkwata, or Budadiri Forest exploration centre. You will also visit the community villages of Sabiny people where you will get to know more about their culture and their day to day life. Later, return back to the hotel in the evening for dinner and Overnight.

Day 3: Return to Kampala
Start your day with a delicious breakfast as you get ready to set off for Kampala. On your way, you will have a stopover in Jinja town and head to different attractions around such as Itanda falls, Bujagali falls, the source of the Nile, Masese fish landing site, Jinja Sailing club among others. Also have your lunch there and continue to Kampala reaching late evening.
